You exploit people for their money

We have a new pandemic in this country, besides Covid 19, its called medical aid. Its medical aid like Discovery not doing what they are paid for. I now see why people end up getting hospital plans only because medical aid in this country is a sad joke, damned if you do damned if you dont. I called Discovery before going for a Covid test for travel purposes, I told the agent that I wouldnt be seeing a docter, instead I went to OR Tambo because the results come out in about 2 hours, and given we have 72 hours to travel and return time is of the essence. The agent assured me the funds would be paid out of my savings if I dont consult a docter, which I didnt have an issue with. Unfortunately where I tested was the National Health Laboratory services lab, which doesnt take medical aid. I submitted a receipt with my claim, Discovery asked for an invoice, I managed to get an invoice, then they wanted the relevant codes which I got again. Its been more than a month with this claim going back and forth. Discovery keeps asking for the ICD 10 codes, which are on the invoice, the codes are from their own book which is on their website (CO19/3979). Then they want the referring docter, which I dont have because I did the test in order to travel to Botswana (which also administer their own test at the border). Why would I pay a docter a consulation fee in order to get a test that would come out days later and then get rejected by the border authorities? The 72 hours applies from when you test, thats how the officials in Botswana deem it. And I plan to travel again. But had Discovery told me that they would not pay from my savings for a travel covid test, I wouldnt have bothered. I'm at the point where I want to tell my employer that I dont want medical aid, I'd rather find another solution. Because I'm sooooo soooo tired of these endless fights for my money! I'm frustrated beyond words could ever explain. DISCOVERY SUCKS as a medical aid, you are a business that doesnt care about people. We are money making cattle! You are just a glorified public service. and I HATE YOU! I'm even going to change my life cover from Discovery.
