Wrongful claim deductions/Bad service
I had an appointment with my gynaecoligist on the 15/03. I submitted the statement for a claim soon after this visit. Only to check on my maternity benefits that 2 consultations have been used already where I only claimed for 1. When I called numerous times, I was told a different story each time. The once it was that they made a mistake and I must re-submit. I did that and the next excuse was the statement was sent through twice. The following time I called to find out what was going on, I was told they had to take the consultation twice as they claimed for a urine dipstick which should have never happened. A urine dipstick is R15.20 and a consultation is R430. How can you take off a consultation for a urine dipstick I asked and was told that the next visit I will go to, Will thwn not be deducted at all from the maternity benefit as they cannot reverse the claim and give me my consultation on my maternity benefit back again. Soon thereafter I had a phone call from a man in claims department that was EXTREMELY rude with me and when I tried to explain to him what the consultant had already organised, He rudely PUT THE PHONE DOWN IN MY EAR! Without any reference number of the call or without identifying his name to me. This was unacceptable behaviour as I am the client and I have been a loyal discovery member for 8 years without major claims, in hospital claims or maternity claims before. I find it a disgrace to be treated like this as the mistake was made within discovery themselves. I am supposed to get 8 consultations with a gynaecoligist during my pregnancy and have only claimed for 1 and yet 2 have been removed which will leave me with 6. I need all the visits as we all know, check ups and Dr visits is much needed in pregnancy and every visit counts. I can't have this come off of my savings account due to negligence. All the claim codes were correct as the claim for the consultation was 0190 and the urine dipstick was 4188. The Dr office said the claim was done correctly and still I cannot get an answer to when this will be fixed??
If this is not sorted out, I will have no choice to move myself and my soon to be born child to another medical aid. I am not happy with the service and extremely disappointed with the fact that my benfit that's supposed to benefit me gets taken away on ridiculous and unnecessary things like this.
