Wound retractor

Hi there, its been a long month in finalising this. My wife had a hysterechtomy on 6 August. I received a bill from the hospital for a wound extractor - Discovery says they only pay for a reusable type but the Doctor wrote a motivation for you as requested as to why she uses a disposable type.

I need to understand from you why the member is liable for a PRE AUTHORISED PROCEDURE with a R7950 DEDUCABLE THAT WAS PAID.

I find it a little frustrating that I am told over the phone that it is being paid (27 Sep) and then today I receive an email below saying you arent.

I then phone you to speak to Daleen Nel, but they tell me they arent allowed to transfer me. They wont provide an email address so how am I supposed to get this finalised?

Why does discovery not take this up with the doctor - I do not have control as to what is utilised in the operating theatre by doctors that understand your requirements.

___________________________________________________________________________________ We have declined funding of the Disposable Alexis wound retractor item billed because Discovery Health Medical Scheme does not pay for this since there is an appropriate alternative available in the form of reusable retractors.

You will remain liable for funding of the item.
