Att Discovery medical aid I am on your classic core medical aid I am extremely unhappy with your service! You have authorized me for only 4 days in Hospital. However I waited two days for the MRI to be done. And my Dr might have to do a nerve block because my spinal disc has herniated and that can only be done on Monday after which they might still need to monitor me. (Yesterday was Saturday and today is Sunday, these procedures are not done over weekends) I pay discovery about R24 768 for the year and the last time I was in hospital was 2015 so how is it possible that only 4 days can be approved even though I waited two days for the MRI. You have also not paid my MRI even though it shows a herniated cervical disc and nerve root impingement, and the MRI was motivated by my Dr. In your cover you clearly state: MRI and CT scans done in hospital. We pay claims from the Hospital Benefit at 100% of the Discovery Health Rate, as long as the scan is related to the reason for your admission. If the scan is performed during an approved hospital admission, but the scan is not related to the reason for your admission, you will need to be pay for the cost of the scan from your own pocket.MRI and CT scans done out of hospital.You do not have cover for scans done out-of-hospital.*You are responsible for the costs if you’re admitted for conservative back or neck treatment.

My MRI was 100% related to my reason for admission, I do not know how ethically you can justify a herniated disc with nerve root impingement as conservative neck treatment. I myself am a medical practitioner and you have no idea how painful a herniated disc with a nerve impingement is and the effect it has on my work. I am not in hospital for a holiday, I would much rather be at my Practice working.

I haven't made ANY hospital claims since 2015 and now that I do have a serious problem and need your assistance, you wont pay.
