Worst medical aid for anyone planning to become pregnant

If you plan on having children, make sure you stay away from Discovery and go to any other medical aid instead.

Not only do they not communicate that you need to activate the benefit for them to pay your claims, but they don't even send any form of notification on your claims. Since when do you need to activate a benefit before you are able to use a product you pay a substantial premium for? Imagine needing to notify your insurer that you are planning to be in an accident or hijacked before they will pay for a claim.

Keep in mind they only pay for 8 visits to your doctor and 2 scans, so the majority still comes out of your savings or own pocket, and then trying to have them actually pay the few claims they offer becomes impossible.

I've tried to resolve this through the respective channels and they simply refuse to backdate 4 appointments.

I was in the process of moving my bank and short-term to Discovery but lesson learned and I will rather move my business elsewhere. My life insurance is also with Discovery but after this incident, I'm not sure if I will need to notify them when I'm planning to die before they will actually choose to pay any form of claim.

I've been with Discovery my entire life and I'm exceptionally healthy with little to no claims ever. When I needed them to actually pay for the first time in 28 years they simply refuse. Seems they have added these activations to just have a reason to not pay when a person's claims.
