Worst *********** medical aid
I was on the Delta Saver plan starting January this year, I went to visit a doctor in January which the claim was paid out by Discovery. I was later in February advised that I could not deliver in Limpopo if I was on the Delta saver plan as the plan had no network hospitals in Limpopo so because I wanted to deliver in Limpopo I asked to be changed to Key Care plus which the request was done. Now I'm being pestered by Discovery people calling me telling me I need to pay an amount of ZAR 541.00 which is the consultation that I had gone to in January I don't understand why should I pay for that consultation?????? because if they back dated the plan change why can they not back date the claim. Discovery people are really starting to stress me out and if I loose my baby because of this stress I'm going to sue Discovery because they're causing all the stress.

I investigated your query and confirmed that the Medical Savings Account (MSA) is a fixed amount that Discovery Health gives you at the beginning of the year for day-to-day medical expenses. You pay this amount back to us in 12 equal monthly instalments but, if necessary, you are free to use the whole amount at the beginning of the year to pay for valid medical expenses. The 12 instalments form part of your monthly contribution.
If you leave the Discovery Health Medical Scheme part-way through the year, we calculate how much of the MSA you have used and how much you have contributed to it. If you have used more from the account than what you have paid into it, then you will need to pay the difference to us.
When your plan was changed from Delta to KeyCare Plus, you had already used funds that were allocated to your MSA. As the KeyCare Plus plan does not have a Savings Account, the amount has to be paid back by yourself.
As confirmed telephonically, if the amount is not paid it will off-set against any claims that you submit in the future.
