Why is Discovery Health claiming money for Covid Vaccine
Discovery Health Medical Scheme trying to claim money for a free Covid Vaccination could come across as ********** activity worth reporting.
My family was on a Discovery Health hospital core plan, and recently received a debt collection message from Discovery Health requesting a payment for the Covid Vaccine. Even after we corrected them saying the vaccine is free and confirmed by President Cycil Ramaphosa's latest covid announcement stating the Covid vaccine is free to all South Africans. Your arrangement as per your email copied below, is between yourselves and the government and not between you and your client.
Furthermore, my family's membership was paid up to end of October 2021.

Claim for Bay Kem Pharmacy for the COVID-19 vaccine
Discovery Health Medical Scheme has provided funding for all members on the scheme, to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Council for Medical Schemes (CMS) has declared funding for the COVID-19 vaccine to be a Prescribed Minimum Benefit (PMB).
Medical schemes are effectively obliged by law to fund the COVID-19 vaccine as a Prescribed Minimum Benefit to every member of the respective scheme in line with South Africa's vaccine prioritisation guidelines.
The claim dated 4 October 2021 for R435.16 was reversed due to your backdated withdrawal. We cannot process or pay any claims received for the period that you are not covered by the scheme. The amount of R435.16 was created as an amount due to the scheme since the last effective date was 30 September 2021. Any claims after this date will be reversed.
Please refer to the previous email (8 December 2021) sent by our Settlement Solutions Department for more information on how to settle this amount due.
