When years of loyalty is disregarded

I have been a client of discovery for the last 14 years, and when my dad retired I ended up having both my parents on my policy as financial dependents. Subsequent to this I was retrenched in 2021 and could not afford the rates any longer and therefore moved my parents to a more cost-effective plan namely Key Care Plus. Over time I have started to realize that this policy inadequately covers my mom's requirements and on the 15th of October I started the process of moving her over to My Classic Priority plan. During this period a tale of unfortunate events occurred. I lost my cell phone and was supposed to submit an affidavit to the medical aid. Unfortunately, my mother fell during load shedding and this fall Led to an L5 Vertebra fracture that is causing the narrowing of the spinal cord. While this was ongoing i was informed by the medical aid that I can move my mom to my policy, when trying to withdraw i was informed that withdrawal can only be done the in December.

The issue that I now sit with is my mom is not allowed to move due to the risk of being paralyzed. The Medical aid plan she is on won't cover anything to do with the spine and I can not see this woman walking around with a brace until next year.

The Lesson I learned in this exercise is that Discovery does not take into consideration that you only moved to a lower package due to covid financial difficulties and doesn't really care about the best wellbeing of its patients.
