WHAT'S THE POINT

I pay a small fortune for myself and 2 kids on Coastal Saver. I removed my husband from my medical aid nearly 3 years ago when my baby was born. Financially we couldn't pay for everything Discovery didn't cover with the birth and have the addition added. So now that we are in a better position I enquired about adding my husband again. He has a problem with varicose veins and because he hasn't been on MA he just kept putting it off. Without MA he can only see a doctor at Victoria Hospital in April 2016 to assess his condition. Then if an op is required he might get lucky and actually get an appointment this year still. My husband is in such pain and his job requires him to be on his feet whole day. After enquiring I find out that adding my husband will be just under R1400 but most shocking is that he won't be able to get the treatment he requires for other 12 months even though I have been with Discovery for just over 8 years. With MA my husband will be able to have the op as soon as he sees the necessary practitioner but thanks to Discovery that is now not an option. This is only 1 of many other disappointments I've experienced with Discovery.
