What does Discovery cover? Why am i paying R2064 if i can only see my GP?

I've being a member of discovery for almost 6 years. I had being suffering with my wisdom teeth for almost 2 years now.

I was told by my dentist that i need to surgically remove 3 of my wisdom teeth in hospital and it cannot be done in his rooms.

When speaking to Discovery i am told that there is an in house hospital fee of approximately R5000. I pay Discovery R2064 on a monthly basis just for myself. Does it make sense that you now what me to pay an upfront fee of R5000 to the hospital. I have an adult acne problem, which of course my medical aid does not cover?

What does Discovery actually cover? What am i paying so much of money for? If the only way for me to make use of my medical aid is via my network GP?

I am in no position to pay the up front hospital fee for my surgery which will eventually dislocate my jaw. My skin is going from bad to worse and my medical aid refuses to assist me.

The entire reason i had to downgrade my medical aid scheme was because of finances. This is ridiculous.
