Unreliable Support from Discovery Health

Discovery, has dropped their standards. During this time of crisis, despite having medical aid, the members on the Keycare option don't have peace of mind. There is only 1 trauma visit per a year, per a member !!!

During this time of the pandemic, hospitals are avoiding to admit patients unless it's life threatening. My sister got a letter from her GP for a hospital admission. When she went to the hospital, they said they can't admit her & she must pay cash as her trauma visit was used up. After liaising with the staff that she didn't have the cash upfront & needed treatment, they treated her due to the extent of pain she experienced. She now has to pay a bill.

Had she been admitted, the cost would have been paid from the Overall In-Hospital benefit but due to the current situation, she was treated in casuality - sent home.

Surely Discovery should have a temporary plan to assist members who can't be admitted. How can it be trauma claim when the patient was supposed to be admitted but couldn't be admitted????

Bonitas is far a better medical aid as they have put in measures to assist the members during this time. The whole world is facing a crisis!!

With Discovery Health, it doesn't seem that they care about people but rather to make money !!!!

It's shocking that Discovery is well known & have a massive building in Sandton but can't override claims for patients being treated in casuality during this time... She had the admission letter so this should have been treated as a In-Hospital claim.
