Unreliable Coverage, Unfair Exclusions

We joined Discovery Health for family planning, expecting coverage for the unexpected. My wife's emergency surgery for ovarian torsion proved us wrong.

Despite the severity and urgency (potential loss of an ovary!), Discovery denied our claim. They blamed it on endometriosis and PCOS, conditions she's always managed. This is a blatant excuse, not a legitimate reason to deny life-saving care, even though doctors and surgeons insist it's unrelated.

This experience highlights two major problems with Discovery Health: • Unreliable Coverage: When a true medical emergency strikes, they look for loopholes, not ways to help. • Unfair Exclusions: Their pre-existing condition clauses seem designed to deny as much as possible, making the very idea of insurance pointless.

We're now facing crippling bills for the care we believed our medical aid would cover. If Discovery won't help in situations like this, what ARE we paying for?
