Unhappy Service

I was admitted to hospital in Feb this year 2015. After my 24 hours my Neurologist decided to keep me in hospital for another 2 days as my infection markers went up and my headaches had worsened. On admission I was admitted under headaches protocol as I was still on a waiting period for anything to so with blood clots. So long story short end of March I received an account from the hospital for R8500 for my stay in Hospital. When I inquired about it by Discovery they had cancelled my Authorization and never let me know. I've been fighting a battle for the last 5 months. 1st they wanted motivation letters and all which was sent to them then it went to the medical board and in all this time it cost me phone calls to there call center as they do not give any person feed back as to what is going on, and every time you phone to enquirer as to whats happening you have to explain the whole story again and again which is bladdy annoying!!! Its now come down to the hospital is going to hand me over as they didn't pay it, and want another motivation letter from the DR but refuse to send him an email as to what the letter needs to entail. I tired of this. I don't have R 8500. T/W i have MA fo

Hello pixie746,

Thank you for speaking to me today and allowing us the opportunity to look into the matter.

The initial reason for your admission was different to that off the final diagnosis confirmed by your treating doctor. This is why the Scheme may request for additional information as the patient's initial diagnosis may change after the relevant tests and treatments are conducted.

Our Clinicians have reviewed the medical reports supp**** by your doctor and based on the information received, the admission was in direct relation to your waiting period and this is why the your authorisation was later retracted. The Scheme is able to make this decision if it is later identified that the member received cover for something that they were not entitled too.

I understand this is not the feedback you hoped for but trust the explanations provided have helped you understand why.

Regards
Clinton
