My husband went on pension and we had to down grade out medical aid to a affordable premium, we now on Smart Classic Plan and I had to go for a mamogram due to a lump in my breast, Discovery didn’t pay I had to pay R2167.00 that I totally understand because I went for one last year and they only pay for a mamogram every 2 years, after the mamogram I had to go in for a biopsy on my breast on Discovery refused to pay as the excuse was I haven’t got a medical savings plan, I have google and got a article that they said they do treat this as a in hospital if you get authorisation from them, I phoned for authorisation and the lady ask me where did I hear this and said the biopsy of R6595.00 is for my own account I have to pay it because I don’t have a medical savings plan. I will next post the article that I saw on google. • PMB Coverage: If a breast biopsy is done to investigate a suspicion of cancer (a diagnosis-specific event), it may be covered as a Prescribed Minimum Benefit (PMB). • Authorization: Breast biopsies (including in-room procedures) require pre-authorization from Discovery to be covered from the Hospital Benefit. • Coding Standards: Accurate ICD-10 codes (diagnostic codes) are mandatory for all claims to ensure they are processed correctly. @ Disclaimer: ICD-10 coding must be determined by the treating healthcare professional based on the specific clinical diagnosis. Using incorrect codes can lead to claim denials. We are on Discovery Health since 2017 and was never in hospital and is also not very sick people
