Unfairly Listed With The Credit Bureau

My membership with Discovery was suspended in October of 2016 for an arrears on my account. Between January 27th and February 2nd 2017, I paid off the amount that I was told by a consultant. After paying the amount owed, I received a refund from Discovery for about 80% of the amount I had just paid. I phoned to query this amount, and was told that it was attributed to the 'balance of unclaimed savings' owed to me.

After that, I had no further contact with anyone from Discovery - neither via email nor telephonically. I could only assume that I was square with what I owed them, and that the account had been settled.

On the 9th of March - with no prior warning - I was issued a letter from Discovery saying that I had been listed with the credit bureau for a completely new amount that had never been previously disclosed to me.

When I phoned to find out why someone had thought to list me with no warning, I was informed that this new amount Discovery claimed I owed them was added onto my discontinued membership profile between the 20th of February and the 1st of March - three weeks after I had paid the last installment of what I owed to my account.

I was also told that they had received the payments I had made, but they had been labelled as having the incorrect membership number - a fact that I checked on my banking statements, and proved to be false.

While still trying to get to the bottom of the issue, I was kept on hold on the phone line for so long that my call eventually cut - no one bothered to phone me back with an update, so I took to email.

I emailed Discovery's main helpline with my issue - one that I regard as very urgent - and no one has responded to that either. I then took to Twitter in an effort to gain someone from Discovery's attention. I received a very neutral response to phone their call centre again, and when I informed them that I was still awaiting feedback from said call centre, I was told to DM them with my membership number and my issue.

I did so around 1pm on that day - still no response. When I asked them again why no one was responding to my query, I received a very off-handed response that the matter was being investigated and someone would report back to me.

I am still waiting for someone to come back to me with any information on what I perceive to be a gross administrative error on Discovery's part.

I have found Discovery's attitude to this situation very rude and unhelpful, and it clearly shows that they do not care about the people they are happily taking money from. Someone in their accounts department has made a huge error at the expense of my credit history - and the fact that no one seems willing to do anything about it greatly distresses me.
