Unfair Treatment
My wife and I were Discovery health members on two separate covers. on 10 November 2022 i sent an email to a Discovery financial adviser expressing an intention to include my wife on my cover. We were told to terminate her membership first before she could be added onto mine and to paid the used up MSA. We did exactly that and termination was effected. We then received an email from Discovery that her cover will be effective from the first of January. When her cover was effected, we were then told by Discovery that she is going to be on a waiting period because there was a break in cover. Our intention when requesting the transfer was for my wife to have a hustle free inclusion onto my cover. No one advised us that the termination of her cover would trigger a waiting period. Instead, were were told that the termination was a prerequisite for the transfer to my cover. The Discovery financial adviser is refusing to take responsibility for the mess instead blaming my me (their client) for the entire thing. We received a call from the financial adviser and the best Discovery could offer was for us to pay for her December 2022 cover when she was not covered and Discovery did not assume any risk for her health cover. I have 9 discovery products including 3 life covers, banking, insurance, income protection, investment and annuity. I find it appalling to be treated in this manner by Discovery and their arrogant financial adviser.
