Undisclosed Maternity Benefits Conditions

So I went to visit the Gynecologist and the tests came back with a positive pregnancy. As the doctor has performed Tubal Ligation on me couple of years ago he did ultrasounds scans to confirm the miracle. Unfortunately as I my medical aid savings were depleted I paid the Dr Cash. A week later I activated the Maternity Benefits and put the claim through. The claim was however rejected on the basis that I only activated the maternity benefit after going to the Dr, but I mean how was I supposed to know that I am pregnant before going to the Dr. The consultant I spoke to by the name of Grace keeps on telling me that the health products information is send out every year to inform clients about all this and that they cant backdate the claim. She even told me its not written anywhere that I must activate before going to the Dr or else I will forfeit the claim. This is a total ripoff by Discovery taking advantage of their clients who are paying a lot of money to be medically covered . Now they come with unwritten rules, to get away from not paying what is due from them.
