Unauthorised debit - Discovery Health Medical Aid

I was debited today almost double my monthly repayment for my discovery medical aid. I called Discovery to confirm why the amount has increased so drastically from R5000 to R9880. Discovery advised that they placed me in the higher bracket income, hence the amount debited. According to Discovery a letter was sent in November on the 7th to confirm my new monthly payment. I was hospalised from the end of October 2023 till the end of November 2023 and have received all my medical claims, but not the letter stating the increase. I informed the consultant that should I have received the letter, I would have down graded my plan or cancel my membership and switch over to another medical aid company. I have not been given the opportunity to do so and was blindly placed in the highest income bracket without my knowledge. After being for years with Discovery I am not being offered the opportunity to change my plan and have the new installment amended with the difference refunded. I find the help, no understanding and no empathy from Discovery medical scheme absolutely appalling. This placed me in a very dangerous financial position without any assistance from Discovery medical scheme. Most of my medication and blood tests rendered during my hospital stay was not covered and now I need to cough up an extra R4500 for the same medical aid.
