Thieving from Pregnant Woman

My pregnant wife has been told that she is not entitled to maternity benefits because she didn't forewarn your institution of her pregnancy before having procedures done - procedures that are covered by the maternity benefits, and that you are covering for other woman, who are paying exactly the same premium amount as we are, the only difference being that they were either lucky enough to be told of the menial step required, or they sat down and read through all the documentation. Yes, you provided it, no, we didn't read it, but my wife is no less pregnant than the next pregnant woman that you cover, nor do we pay a single cent less than any of those woman, so your excuse is essentially just a way to thieve money from pregnant woman.
