They want me to pay for nothing!!
So I app**** for the medical aid Keycare Access. I went through all the paperwork, ect and sent it in. They were very slow in sending me confirmation, and so after I emailed them they sent me a letter stating that there is a 12 month waiting period for any pregnancy related claims!! The whole reason I chose this option was for my pregnancy!!! This plan is exclusively for pregnancy and now they want me to just pay for nothing!?! It is absolutely ridiculous that they put this 'condition' on it. I was told over the phone that this would not be a problem, so do they consistently lie over the phone and then change their minds?

The Medical Schemes Act allows Schemes to implement waiting periods to contain risk and ensure the long-term sustainability of the Scheme.
If a member is pregnant before joining, it is regarded as a pre-existing condition. Discovery Health will apply a 12-month waiting period on maternity benefits on the membership.
