They make me sad.

I had a severe life threatening tooth abcess that had the dentist I went to reffer me to a specialist as an emergency. I got there and had to be admitted in ICU as an emergency procedure had to be done. Discovery states that in case of an emergency, you don't pay any upfront payment however Discovery refused that my case is an emergency even though I couldn't even breath properly ( was in so much trouble that needed emergency care). I was literally in ICU!, my mouth was not opening, I could not swallow or eat anything But Discovery still states that it was not an emergency and now i must still pay a deductible on R9650 to the hospital. What am I paying near R4500 pm for ? When I got admitted I was told it was sorted with Discovery but noooo today I get a statement that they didn't treat this matter as an emergency. I'm just Saddened by Discovery honestly I'm shatterd. Is a matter of life/death not an emergency anymore? So heartless I don't know where to turn to.

Please note that I didn't choose to go to this hospital, I was referred as an EMERGENCY so it's unfair for discovery to say " The member has chosen to use a hospital that is not part of the Delta Hospital network. The member has to pay a deductible to the hospital from his or her own pocket. The deductible amount is R9 650.As an admitting healthcare professional we have a payment arrangement with" it was an EMERGENCY and the closest specialist the dentist found and he had to admit me in ICU right away. So I don't understand why this is not an emergency in your books or would you preferred I died?
