Hello shaun***,

Thank you for your comment.

A waiting period is a period of time during which a member does not have medical cover. During this time, the Medical Scheme to which the member belongs does not have to pay for claims received from the member. There are two types of waiting periods - 12 month condition specific waiting periods and three-month general waiting periods. If a member has a waiting period imposed on their membership, they still have to pay contributions to the Scheme. We base this decision on information provided on the application form.

I confirmed that your query has been resolved and the relevant information provided to you on why the waiting period applies. We do trust that it has provided clarity to your concerns.

Regards
Jashvir
