System fault costing members money?

When we heard we are pregnant and got confirmation from the doctors I went onto the Discovery site to activate the maternity benefits. For weeks I had no luck activating it due to system errors. Eventually when I phoned and got it activated I was told that any claims before activation will not be paid. Now my question is that how can I be penalized for late activation due to a flawed system that did not allow my to activate earlier? After almost 2 hours on the phone escalating from person to person I was just told sorry to hear about you problems.... For any new parents to be, make sure you read all the fine print and activate your Maternity benefits rather sooner than later or they will also take you for a fool. A very sad experience and I will certainly consider another medical aid in the near future.
