special needs children
Good day we have a special needs child, he is 11 years old. we took him to the denist and the denist told us that because he is a special needs child and can't open his mouth wide open, they must to a in hospital treatment. we phone discovery health and they told us that we must pay R1700 to go to hospital so that the dentist can work on his teeth. our complaint is that we have a letter from our doctor that specify our child is a special needs child and can't sit in a dentist stool for treatment. is there no special arrangements for such children.

Although we understand that your son needs to have the dentistry done in hospital, the co-payment for the dentistry will still apply as per your plan type. We confirmed that alternatives were discussed with your husband and we hope that your son's dental treatment goes well.
