So disappointing during Cancer and Pregnancy!

I have been with Discovery for 15 years.... 15 years of paying every single month... (barring 2 years when I was overseas) with very little wrong with me so very little cost to them, I had never been to hospital before 2 years ago. Now that I have needed serious health cover - I am so disappointed. Through Cancer and Pregnancy, Discovery has been useless. My cancer was mild and sorted, I feel sorry for the people who have it a lot worse and then have to worry about 'convincing' Discovery to help them pay for it, even though they have most likely signed up for the cancer benefit as I did. And Pregnancy ... we sign up the maternity benefit.. benefit?? please!

I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2019, as said, luckily we got it early enough and took the Thyroid out before it spread. I signed up for the cancer 'benefit' when I found out ... why is this made so difficult?? After fighting with Discovery after I sent my claims through and had no money back and no response as to why it doesn't qualify, I contacted my financial advisor asking for help.. this makes no sense ? He was eventually told that for chronic meds and certain blood tests, I needed a motivational letter from the Oncologist. Honestly??? I had cancer... I needed meds and blood tests every 3 months (blood tests not covered at all by the way!) for the next 2 years... what more do you need? and I am sure an Oncologist has more to do with their time then try convince Discovery to cover me for cancer treatment in my Cancer so called benefit.

Pregnancy... you get a list of things you are covered for... the scans are hardly covered... but fair enough, at least its something. The very important blood test you go for at 12 weeks to test for down syndrome, blood level etc.... are apparently not the blood tests that you are actually covered for??? Help a mother out... so what blood test then? You say the following : 'Maternity Benefit - during pregnancy - Blood tests.' (check - check - check) x 12?? I am covered for 12 blood tests but not the most important one that every mother has?? God forbid what when the birth actually happens, I know you say we are covered but are we really. I guess I will wait and see, just as I have seen now. We have a baby on the way, and Discovery is adding to our stress levels.

Cancer is stressful and traumatic enough, during Pregnancy you should try and stay clam and not stress... Discovery only adds to this stress.
