Sling covered in previis surgery now not covered

I had major shoulder surgery on 08/09/2015. As part of the surgery, an 'immobilising sling' with an attached abductor pillow is fitted to prevent movement of the arm/shoulder as to prevent the anchors and stitches from pulling out/apart. It us fitted while still under anaesthetics during the surgery. The sling has to be worn for 6 weeks after surgery.<br> Discovery refuses to pay for the sling, saying it is an external piece of medical equipment, although any arthopedist will confirm it is a very necessary part of the operation. Just like the anchors, stitches, *****s etc ibside are vital, the sling outside is just as vital and a part of the operation. Does Discovery rather want to pay for another operation? Do the math.<br> The best part is, on 14/04/2010 they DID cover the exact same sling for a similar operation on my OTHER shoulder!! I was on exactly the same plan, also with no MSA. When told that, they offered vague excuses, none of which made any sense.<br> After the surgery when I awoke I returned the 'unnecessary' sling, as Discovery warrants it-I cannot pay for it.<br> <br> Discovery, does all this make sense? It is a cop-out to me which I will be taking up with the ombudsman. Awaiting reply.
