sick and tired of discover ripping me off useless!
I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO USE THIS USELESS MEDICAL AID BECAUSE MY WORK SUBSIDES PART OF IT

HERE IS MY STORY.

A few years back I had a lump in my breast... however Discovery told me they will only cover it if it is cancer. They refused to pay for the operation. The company that i worked for paid for my op. Thank God is don't have cancer!! i never bothered to contact discovery. So my question is what ever happened to prevention is better than cure.....

I am now wanting to do a laser surgery for my eyes because i am extremely short sighted.. which they say they will cover it but with my savings ... I only have savings on 5790... the surgery cost 25000... now am asking discovery with tears in my ayes where am i suppose to get the 19210 from?? tell me why i am paying 2500 every month?? I spend close to 4000 per year for glasses.... so this surgery will saving you guys money in the long run

please sort this out... I would have left this medical aid a long time ago if my work was not subsidizing it.
Thank you for your comment.
I confirmed that funding for certain procedures is determined by the clinical information provided and the benefits of your chosen plan type. We encourage members to take part in the screening tests and funding for these will remain according to your plan type. The benefits of your chosen plan type are designed in order to provide the best possible cover to a wide range of members, as well as ensure the sustainability of the Scheme.
In order to assist us with achieving this, we have placed certain funding rules on medication and specific benefits such as optometry. For these reasons we only fund for laser eye surgery from the available Medical Savings Account (MSA).
Thank you for allowing me to provide clarity on your query. You are welcome to contact us should you require any further assistance.
Kind regards
Rishana
