Shocking treatment

- My son was a member of my medical aid for 26 years. Due to the rules of the fund he had to leave and join his own medical aid fund.

- He joined Discovery Health. A 3 Months waiting period was app**** which is typically understandable so as to avoid a fund being exploited.

- He then suffered a sports injury.

- I motivated to Discovery that they admit the claim, or alternatively provide me with a reasonable explanation as to why the request could not be accomodated - seeing that he has a healthy medical record, and particularly also because he has, since joining the fund built up a substantial savings account, if they would consider an ex-gratia payment, or alternatively to allow the claim to be paid from his savings benefit.

- Discovery insisted on a 3d Party Consent Form which I duly completed - they promised a 3-5 day turnaround time from 04 May 2016.

- Despite corresponding with them 4 times thereafter and finally saying that I will take the matter to Hellopeter in order to elicit some kind of reaction there is simply NOTHING from their side.

- It is subsequently clear that Discovery Health is quick to market their products and butter the customer up with fancy slogans - but service is simply non existing.

- I therefore challenge Discovery Health to turn this bad experience into a positive one!

Hi Pietspreeu
We saw your comment and understand your frustration. We apologise for the manner in which this matter was handled.
Though we understand that your son was on medical aid for 26 years and was forced off your medical aid, no supporting documentation was supp**** on his initial application that confirms this. We can confirm that we have now received it and have reviewed and removed the waiting period on his membership. We have also sent the claims to be reprocessed. The payment will go to him directly, at the bank details we have on his profile.
If you need any further help, please contact us directly.
Regards
Norman
