SHOCKING 13 YEARS EXPERIENCE WITH DISCOVERY HEALTH!!!

I have never felt so disappointed and heartbroken by medical aid which promised my family a better quality of life and which we have been loyal to for 12 years!!! The experience of not being helped for emergency care on two occasions which include my dependents both under the age of 7 is disheartening. the monthly contributions of R10k plus a month yet even going to doctors on the network entail you pay the cash before anyone cares to assist.

My daughter got hurt and had a open cut above her eye. Called almost all doctors on the network around my area and no one absolutely no one was willing to assist a Classic Smart Patience. I will not even mention the manner and tone this message was extended to me. No empathy, no human centeredness nothing!!!

The above happened again last night at 1am when my son was struggling to breathe, rushed him to a Life Hospital Emergency in Brakpan which is under the network and they required cash before the could attend to a near death situation!!! this is experienced by a medical aid covered member and by professionals who took an oath to save lives!!! this again broke myself and my family because we needed to pay close to R5000 and faced the possibility of paying R14000 for admission. however, my medical aid whom i trusted told me we are covered under hospital cover under the network.

I have worst experiences personally with my pregnancy and with surgeries with the same medical aid but experience this with my children is the worst experience and this has to STOP!!! I keep on asking myself, what if my son died because I did not have R5000 to pass cash before we could be assisted. The cherry on top is the medical prescription I received should also be paid cash as it is prescribed by a non-network doctor which is adds salt to the wound.

DISCOVERY YOU NEED TO DO BETTER!!! you are in the business of dealing with real lives and paying customers yet this is such a common experience with you to a point that Medical Practitioners do not recommend you!!! I can write a book about people who have experience similar circumstances and you have lost one of your loyal customer who was an advocate for your brand. Have been on Vitality and Life cover in addition but feel like a failure for choosing you!!!
