Shocked by Discovery_A|_s lack of integrity
App**** for membership Feb 2014 after uninterrupted lifelong medical aid membership, therefore no incentive to not disclose conditions for which you actually want cover. Membership and chronic meds applications done on the same date. Membership was activated 1 March 2015. Following numerous follow ups since Feb on meds approval Discovery is now claiming the chronic conditions were a non disclosure and are terminating our membership. Brokers gave all relevant proof that the chronic application, completed Chronic condition drs forms and membership was done at same time and Discovery is therefore falsely accusing us of a non disclosure. The chronic department is giving us the run about with ridiculous requests, which I believe is aimed at discouraging members to stay on the scheme. We are being bul**** into agreeing to terminate our membership. \due to the broker making the mistake on the forms send for the application"we can now reapply for membership but must first terminate the current membership for non disclosure. I bet the new application will be rejected. WHERE IS YOUR INTEGRITY!!!!! I am putting it to you that you do not want members with chronic conditions."""

When a member joins the Scheme, we process the application according to the information disclosed on the application. Once your membership is activated and we receive a request for either in or out of hospital authorisation within a certain period of time our system will automatically pend the request. We will then request further clinical information from your provider. This process is necessary to ascertain whether there was any pre-existing conditions of which we were not aware. We confirmed you have been contacted by our Standards team who have found that your pre-existing condition was not noted on your application. As a result, the Standards team have withdrawn your membership which is in line with the Scheme rules. Should you have any further queries, please contact the Standards team directly for assistance on this matter.
