Second Complaint: bad service linking to gap cover

I wrote a complaint on Hello Peter about Discovery who refused to pay out my Gap Cover or Supplementary Gap Cover advantages. In October I notified Discovery about an emergency hysterectomy I had to undergo dur to unforeseen circumstances. I was informed by the sales agent of Gap cover department about the waiting periods. No dispute about that. BUT, as explained a month ago in my complaint, I was also assured by Lucas, the agent, that the waiting period of 1 year for such a procedure lapses in case of an emergency procedure or unforeseen circumstances as in my case. After repeatedly trying to resolve the matter telephonically and numerous unsuccesssful attempts to first get some feedback and then just getting in touch with the Client Relation Manager:Gap Cover and Servicing, Mr Francisco Prins, I cannot emphasize my astoundness with my medical scheme. The ignorance and false promises, even their vow on this public platform, Hello Peter, that they would pay attention to my complaint and arising dissatisfaction left me speechless. My first hospitalization since becoming a member years ago. Motivated by a specialist, emphasising the urgency and inevitability of the procedure, Discovery still decided not to live up to what they so often strive towards. No walking the extra mile or even just doing what they are PAID for. No interest in sound client relations or communication whatsoever. Spending R280 airtime on the line explaining my situation over and over from the one to the next consultant in trying just to get permission to follow up with Mr Prins who never ever comes back to me when I leave a message. Apparently I may not directly speak to him BUT everytime the agent types him an email whilst I dictate, requesting him to please contact the client. This was on Wednesday, 17 November. Still no response from Mr Prins.

What I DID eventually do, was to cancel all my business with Discovery. I am their client up to 31 December. I cancelled my membership due to my dissatisfaction with a medical aid who cannot deliver the one time you need them. Not even tending to a conplaint. Up to then, for the next month and 2 days, I am still a member of Discovery before moving to another medical scheme who would gladly accept my contributions every month. What are the chances that Discovery will pay attention to the ongoing problem in the last month? Let me say this, when I gave notice of resignation, I gave a detailed reason when I was asked for it. More than a week has lapsed. Nobody cared to even follow up on that conversation and bad testimony that a good manager would generally and naturally do. I guess that I am seen as a small fish in the huge Discovery ocean who is not concerned about the loss of a member at all. I can tell you this too. Today I am just too thankful that I did not move my ABSA investments to Discovery Finance. That might just as well also have had dire consequences for me seeing that they are fond of you only until they have you on the hook. Shame on you, Discovery. Not even following up on promises YOU MAKE on a public platform where the world is witness of your empty promises.
