SASOLMED had become one of the WORST medical aids around
I was referred by a GP to a specialist.
Sasolmed pays R564 for a GP consultation but only R400 and something for a specialist consultation. How can you justify that????? I had to pay R1200 out of my own pocket. I do understand specialists charge above medical aid rates for consultations and procedures but for a medical aid paying less for a specialist consultation the a normal GP is rock bottom for me.
Medical aid goes up every year with the benefits going from very bad to the worst it has been.
I have not heard of 1 person that is not complaining........

24 Jul 2024, 13:42Yes, you did contact me and i feel exactly like i did when i wrote the review.
It does not make sense that the amount paid to a GP for a consultation is MORE then a specialists consultation.
What makes matters worse is i was told with a referral from my GP to the specialist the medical aid would pay 80% and i was liable for the 20% of the medical aid rate.....i had a referral letter ATTACHED to my claim submitted to the medical aid with ALL of the referral docters info on but this was not sufficient.
The medical aid wants the referring docters name and practice number on the invoice. I asked the lady printing out the pop's to do so and i was told i can attach it when submitting the claim as she has never had to do so.
