Sad day for Discovery Health
Good day,
For the attention: Dr Noluthando Nematswerani, Jonathan Mclean, Yonga Katise and Bongoletha Kato.
I would sincerely like to address this email to each of you personally. After reading this I hope you think about the quality of service that you as a person and an employee of Discovery provide during this time of crisis.
About a week ago I filed a request that you reconsider my claim for two injections. These injections (Prevnar and Influvac) were prescribed by my doctor to me since I have asthma. In normal circumstances I would not have taken these injections but since I am a candidate attorney that is required to appear in court on almost a daily basis during this lockdown period and being exposed to the threats of this virus I thought it would be for the best. Also relating to the severity of this virus to people with asthma I logged a claim asking for Discovery to assist me paying for these injections as I risk my health each and every time I step foot in court in order to make this country a safer place.
With that being said I received a email from Discovery asking me to complete a Chronic Illness Benefit Application form. I indicated to you that on my application form when joining discovery I indicated that I have asthma in the relevant sections (I even double checked it as I still have a copy of my application form) and my application was approved with these conditions and without any further request from Discovery.
So for you to now request this form from me was rather strange to me and also the way you chose not to address this in any shape or form in my emails to you.
Even though I thought this was strange I again went to my doctor in order to complete these forms you requested. I supp**** you with these forms and also the original certified script from my doctor for the injections. My doctor even went further to supply you with the medication I have used for 20 year for my asthma but have not claimed it for Discovery once.
I then received an email back from you that explained that my asthma medication that I have not once claimed or even intended to claim from Discovery was denied and my original claim for the injection was not even attended to.
I address this email to you from the bottom of my heart. If you had just taken a second of your time to look at the content of my claim and app**** your mind I would have excepted your level of service.
You clearly showed that in the worst crisis the WORLD has ever faced Discovery and their employees in these exceptional circumstances does not have the time to care about its members.
It is sad that there is some of us willing to sacrifice everything so that there will be something to come back to after lockdown and others sit in comfort.
Thank you Discovery for showing that your are the least bit of a proud South African company
Yet again you fail to understand the significance of the situation that our country and world finds itself.
You still wish to proceed with your rules and regulations as if there is no world wide pandemic. I guess you are placed on a pedestal above all the other companies and institutions trying to make a deference and support the people around them.
I risk my life each and every day to protect the wellbeing of our country and the best you can come up with is sorry your vaccinations are not covered?!
