ROSANNA KINLOCH TERMINATED OUR MEDICAL AID OVERNIGHT — NO WARNING, NO NOTICE

We joined Discovery Health on 1 February 2026. I had no pre-existing conditions to declare.

In 2022, I had mild back pain. I used over-the-counter medication. It went away. No doctor. No specialist. No physio. No diagnosis. No treatment plan. No follow-up. There was nothing to disclose.

Two weeks ago, the pain returned. For the first time ever, I saw a doctor. He recommended an infiltration procedure — a theatre procedure that required approval from Discovery.

That’s when Rosanna Kinloch contacted me.

She asked me questions I had already answered on my application. When I told her the pain first started in 2022 but only came back two weeks ago, she decided — on her own — that I had failed to disclose a “condition.”

No consultation. No medical opinion. No discussion. Just her decision.

And then she terminated our entire medical aid.

No notice. No email. No phone call. No letter. We only found out when we tried to use our cover and were told we had nothing.

Overnight, with no warning, this woman left my family without medical aid.

Let’s be clear:

I never had a diagnosed condition.

I never saw a doctor for this before now.

There was nothing to disclose.

Medical aid cannot expect people to declare every temporary ache and pain from years ago.

But according to Rosanna Kinloch, she has the power to decide who deserves medical cover — and we apparently don’t.

This is outrageous.

Discovery needs to answer:

Who authorized this consultant to cancel a family’s medical aid without notice?

Why was there no opportunity to respond or clarify?

What kind of training allows a staff member to confuse temporary pain with a chronic condition?

We are now forced to reapply for cover. In the meantime, we have nothing. No protection. No safety net.

I’m posting this so others know: your medical aid can be taken away overnight by a consultant who doesn’t know your history, doesn’t consult medical professionals, and doesn’t bother to notify you.

Discovery, this is unacceptable. Reverse this decision. Reinstate our cover. And train your staff to understand the difference between a symptom and a condition before they destroy someone’s healthcare.
