*******
I pay Discovery between R6000 and R7000 a month for my medical aid. Thats at least R 72k per annum. I took my son to an orthodontist for treatment which involves motnthly follow up visits. The cost were paid from my Day to Day benefits, resulting in my MSA being depleted. This despite a annual limit of R22k for orthodontist treatments which i am now told must come off the MSA. My annual MSA doe not even cover that, despite carrying money over from previous year. I am now required to pay R12k out of my own pocket in order to access R29k ATB. If the orthodontist fees were paid from a separate fund/pot as had been my expectation then this might not have been a problem. As it right now however i believe this is a total *******. Why must i still pay R36k in member fees and still pay R12k out of my own pocket in order to have access to R29k?? This is a legal con and i want no further part in it.

As discussed, we fund for out-of-hospital claims from the available day-to-day benefits according to your chosen plan type. These claims include dentistry where a limit may apply to certain benefits. You are welcome to discuss your plan benefits with your financial advisor for guidance on a plan that would best suit your medical and financial needs.
We are sorry that we could not provide you with a different outcome.
