Ridiculous waiting period

I was on Discovery medical aid and took 2 months break due to financial problems, when i called again to reinstate, me and my elder daughter were given 3 months waiting period but my son who is 1 year and 8 months who was on medical aid from birth was given 12 months due to not being 2 years on medical aid and because he was admitted in April. How can he be on medical aid for 2 years when he is not even 2 years himself? I found this very frustrating as i cant guarantee that my child wont be admitted in this 12 months.
