Refusing to pay for medication

My mother is a member of Discovery Medical Aid. Her doctor prescribed insulin for her diabetes which Discovery refuses to cover. They only pay for other brands of insulin despite her doctor requesting novomax. She's now ended up in hospital three times already because of their refusal. And yet, the government provides this same medication for free.

How many times should my mother end up in hospital? I don't know how this company could be so cruel. It is a great evil to just let people suffer. I've advised her to change medical aids and lodge a complaint with Council of Medical Schemes.
