REFUSE TO PAY FOR A MEDICAL EMERGENCY

Discovery Health refused to pay for my sister's medical emergency. She is on the Key Care plan. It may not be the most expensive plan, but, on the discovery website it says that under the Key Care plan you will pay for admittance to any private hospital in case of an emergency. My sister started vomited BLOOD and severe pain in stomach, severely dehydrated, twisted stomach and called her GP who said she needs to immediately be admitted to hospital and get specialised help. VOMITING BLOOD and SEVERE DEHYDRATION and a TWISTED STOMACH is a MEDICAL EMERGENCY! Without immediate treatment it can cause DEATH! She is in a critical condition. Both her GP and the Hospital, which is the nearest hospital where my sister lives in Pretoria called Discovery to inform them of this, yet they refused! What is the point of making monthly payments but you refuse to help a member in a life or death situation? You need to seriously redefine your idea of a medical emergency. I am complaining as my sister is too sick, but she should if she recovers from this. Discovery should at least pay part of this. I am not a discovery member, but i used to be one.
