RE: DISCOVERY WANTS TO ISSUE MEDICATION SEVEN DAYS LATE

Discovery Health, you are slowly becoming a pathetic medical aid to deal with as you are more interested in making money at your clients demise with absolutely no regard for their well being.

I am on several different medications prescribed by my Doctor including chronic medication. I last collected my medications on the 22nd May 2022. Yesterday being a Public Holiday and I planned on a long weekend and decided to collect my medication, which will be convenient for me and save me the hassle during the next week.

When I went to Dischem I was told that the medical aid is rejecting it and I can only collect it on the 21st June 2022 (a day before), and another on the 29th June 2022 ( 7 Days late ) but if I want I can pay cash for it. I have always collected my meds earlier which was convenient for me and as per Dischem I could collect my medication at least 6 days in advance from the previous collection.

Being Dischem, who has employees that also looks at faces on who to assist properly and who to give a hard time to, I tried to confirm this and I tried to call Discovery but could not get through to anyone as it is a public holiday which is pathetic for a medical aid as an emergency can happen 24/7, 365 days a year.

When I called them today to check what the issue was, they advised me that I was issued twice in November last year and therefore they cannot issue me earlier now as it is showing that I am overdosing ( Laugh Out Loud ) which is seven months later.

Is it not possible that I could of received my meds at the beginning and at the end of the same month? Which I have done, and also I have collected my meds late, which I now try to avoid.

Am I not allowed to plan my collections to make things convenient for me? Mind you some of my meds is for stress and I suffered a heart attack in 2019, and my Doctor always advises me to plan myself to avoid unnecessary stress and not taking my meds on time.

What if I cannot collect my meds exactly 30 days later, then Am I to stay without my medication?

What if I was going away like I often do including international work travel, can I not plan myself accordingly. And if I remember correctly I did travel internationally In November 2021 and January 2022, for which I can prove.

If I was not allowed to collect my meds earlier why has it previously always been given to me.

This whole issue has got me quiet irritated on how things operate with you. The person who addressed my call this morning seems very *********** in answering my questions.

I am on the Classic Comprehensive, which is not cheap. My medication, Even Chronic comes out of my Savings, which is my money and not yours! There is all these extra surcharges that we must pay extra for in cash, so after standing an hour in the line for the medication, we must then go stand in the cashier line to pay R35 from a whole lot of medication that already came to over R1500 from Your savings. This is another absolute joke that I cannot comprehend.

I also believe that this could be Dischem trying to be difficult with me because I complained in a survey that they did not advise me of alternate medication available. The reason for this was they had given me Pantacid when I normally use to take Nexiam and then changed to Pantor. So for the two months that I got Pantacid i did not use it and still have sealed bottles, And now this is the same medication that they want me to collect 7 days late as well.

This whole issue of collecting my medication is becoming quiet annoying dealing with Discovery and Dischem.

I cannot go several times in a month to the Pharmacy to collect meds on all different dates and I try to do it once a month and is done by my wife.

I would really appreciate Discovery providing a reasonable solution to this issue that I cannot comprehend. I don't see how you can say that I cannot get it from my savings (that is my money), but I can pay cash for it.

I cannot see how you expect me to collect my meds seven days late and one day before, because apparently 7 months ago I collected twice in one month (why was it given to me then). There is also some medication that I don't take every month as prescribed by my doctor, because I have extra due to some dosages being reduced. Why doesn't discovery and Dischem not ask why you not taking this, It is because it is all about your money and you don't care about your clients needs.

Discovery will be held liable for any adverse reaction on my health due to stress and not being able to have my meds on time if I do miss their scheduled collection dates.

I would highly appreciate your feedback or reasonable advice on this matter, as I cannot change my Medical Aid now after 12 years but will the moment I get that option.

Thanks and Regards AIP

So Discovery rep**** with a lenghy email with stats on how the worked out my presciption.
Still with no consideration for the patient only consideration for how they will make their money.

They also stated, " Discovery Health permits the filling of a prescription every 23 days, up to a maximum of 13 fills of medicine within a 12-month period. This rule is in place to help prevent our members from running out of medicine. "

Now the last time they did not allow for it a few days before and told me i could fetch it 0n the 29th of June. For convenience again i collected it on the 1st of July 2022. For convenience of the weekend my wife went to collect it on the 30th July and was refused. Again i went today on the 2nd August 2022 and again was refused the medication. When asked why even the Pharmacist was confused and shook her head saying Discovery is full of issues these days. when asked when i can collect she on the 15th of August 2022.

Now discovery please explain how you worked out your stats now. You obviously have no regard for your patients well being, and only looking to make money. For this it come out of my saving on the classic comprehensive which cost me around R7000 a month, but i am still treated in such a terrible manner.

i like an urgent response from you on this matter as i plan on taking this further.
