Prescribed Minimum Benefits MY ASS

I had an accident in April for what I had to get an operation for. I had a bit of a battle getting my money out of my medical aid under Prescribed Minimum Benefits as they kept on giving me excuses that the codes the providers provided was incorrect etc. But eventually I got to pay my Hospital stay, Operation and Anesthetist.

The problems started when I needed to start claiming for Out Of Hospital. First I needed to claim for my Arm brace which i needed to actually keep my arm stable and immobile so it could heal. Their answer was that its not a prescribed minimum benefit. Then I wanted to claim for my Physiotherapy which I confirmed was a Prescribed Minimum Benefit before I even started with treatment to which they answered of course and I can just fill in a form for Out Of Hospital Treatment .

After my 7 treatments i filled in the form and forwarded it to my Provided to also fill in with the right codes. This was the 18th July and since then it's been excuse after excuse and denial after denial. I pay almost R2500 per month to have this medical aid and they are giving me the run around for something I can afford if didn't have to pay them a monthly fee. And all this after they told me it should be covered as its a PRESCRIBED MINIMUM BENEFIT!!!!!!!

I have reached a point where I cannot afford my Medical Aid anymore because there are so many prescribed MINIMUM benefits they are not paying that I need to pay for that before I get threatened with lawyers for non payment.

DO NOT GO WITH DISCOVERY MEDICAL AID AS THEY HOPE YOU WONT FOLLOW UP SO THEY CAN KEEP YOUR MONEY AND YOU THEN EVENTUALLY GIVE UP AND TAKE OUT A LOAN SO YOU CAN AFFORD YOUR MEDICAL BILLS!!!!!!!!
