Pregnancy **************
I have been a Discovery health member almost my entire life that is why I convinced my husband to also join the scheme. We were up until this point extremely happy. But we found out in February that we are having our first baby. We went to the doctor to confirm the pregnancy and activated out maternity benefits on the discovery app. And then disaster hit the world in the form of COVID. My husband works for an international company and the salaries were paid late. We therefore couldn’t afford one months installment. We got a notification around 15 days later that our medical aid has been suspended. After numerous phone calls we finally got the advice 2 months later that we can pay the outstanding balance and it will be reinstated ( all other phone calls resulted in a whole lot of “sorry mam we cant help you) On 6 May we paid the balance owed and was relieved that the disaster is over. Only to receive no feedback further. End of May we phoned again only to receive advice that I must now email proof of payment to the payments department. We did that and still nothing. They ended up paying all our money back and we still don’t have any cover for my pregnancy. We have been paying cash at Mediclinic for everything so far. Our baby is due in October and I would like to find a solution but are unable to get in contact with anyone who is actually smart enough to assist. Am I being discriminated because I am pregnant they just refuse to pay for my baby?
