I called Discovery Health for authorization for my Geo-scope, and they told me I need to pay a co-payment. I informed them that I don't have the money and need to do the Geo-scope ASAP. At first, they didn’t want to hear me, so I asked to speak to someone higher up. They connected me with Renphia Patterson, who also didn't want to listen until the Prof (medical practitioner) intervened and explained that I really need this scope and would write a motivation. This lady still didn't want to listen to the Prof, but eventually, she agreed that if the Prof writes the motivation, she will see if they can waive the co-payment.

She said if I send an email on Friday, 12th July 2024, I will receive a reference number and she will personally call me. After speaking to her, I sent an email but did not get a reference number. I checked with the Prof's office to confirm if they received the email since I copied them, and they confirmed receipt. I followed up on 15th July 2024, and that is when I received the reference number. Renphia Patterson said she would personally call me on 15th July to make sure that I have been assisted, but I am still waiting for her call.

I can’t believe I have been using Discovery Health for the past 12 years and have never been hospitalized, nor has any of my dependents. Now I am expected to make a co-payment after paying for all these years.
