POOR SERVICE
I have been with discovery since May 2002 on my fathers medical aid in 2012 after 10 years I had to go onto my own medical aid because I turned 21 , I still chose to stay with discovery . I was very happy with discovery till I gave birth to my daughter in 2013 . During my pregnancy on 39 weeks and 6 days 2 January 2013 I woke up with bellspulcy . I rushed to the doctor to make sure that all is ok with my baby , the doctor decided that an emergency c section had to be done , he wanted me to go for an MRI scan and the x-ray department refused to do the MRI because I was pregnant . I rushed to the hospital and hours later my daughter was born . 2 weeks after her birth the doctors and hospital started phoning me for their money . Discovery refuses to pay for her birth , because the \doctor council "at discovery decided that I chose to do the c section and that I could have gone for the MRI . Discovery still refuses to pay for my daughters birth . What kind of \""doctors council\"" does discovery have to make choices for the patient to say that I chose to do the c section and that I could have gone for the MRI . Till today I got no further answer from discovery"""

I am really sorry to confirm that the funding decision remains declined as per the review by our clinical team. The decision was based upon the medical reports and clinical findings to ensure that the most appropriate decision was reached. I understand that you also presented this case to the Council for Medical Schemes, we provided feedback on 18/03/2013 that our decision was in line with the Scheme rules.
Unfortunately we are not able to consider your request to fund the C-section favourably as your plan type at that time did not cover you for this. I am so sorry once again that my feedback is not what you had hoped for. I assure you that we have taken careful consideration into all aspects however, the decision is valid.
