Poor customer service from Discovery Health

Giving 1 star is even too much but alas it was needed to be able to write this review. I'm so sick of the poor service delivery in this country and particularly in my town and the lack of competence from so called customer service consultants especially when dealing with them over the phone! I submitted a claim to Discovery Health on the 4th December to be reimbursed for a gynae consultation I had on the 27/11 (I had done this previously on 2 occasions with no problems). By the 10/12 I had still not received any communication with regards to my claim which I thought unusual so I contacted them only to be told by a lady that my claim had been processed on the 6/12 but was rejected due to no MSA funds available. I then told her that it should not come from my MSA but from my maternity benefits as previously done (I'm 8 months pregnant currently) so she said she would re-process it. Fine. I get an email on the 11/12 stating my claim has been rejected due to no MSA so I call again and get answered by a guy who says he can see it has been processed again and would take 2-3 days and assured me all is fine and that it should be processed. By the 18/12 still no communication received from Discovery so I call again and get answered (I won't say was assisted, because then I wouldn't be writing this) by a lady who tells me that it was rejected again due to no MSA funds and that someone had attempted to call me on the 12/12. I explained to her that it should not come from MSA but maternity benefits of which I still have and that no one had contacted me because if that were the case I wouldn't be calling her. I mean it's 2019, my cellphone would of had a missed call or voicemail on it if that were the case. She puts me on hold to check of the correct ICD Codes had been used on the invoice and she comes back and confirms it has and that the person who answered me previously should of followed up as to why it was rejected again and escalate it to who I don't know. So it's now the 24/12 and I am still waiting for my money so some form of feedback as to what is going on and when I will be receiving my reimbur*****t. Is this the service we must just come to accept especially from large corporations like Discovery Health after following all their steps or did I forget we just a number in their eyes. This is aggravating a very heavily pregnant woman and I honestly don't need this kind of stress at this moment. Those radio ads for other medical aids are starting to sound really attractive. Discovery use the fact that they are the largest medical scheme to their advantage and ****** their customers. Paying expensive premiums monthly and can't be helped when you really need it. Sad state of affairs.

I am still waiting for Discovery to contact me regarding this matter. Something that seems to me very simple to rectify. So I log into my online profile only to find that I'm being charged over R3000 for a pathologist visit for my daughter that only entailed a nasal swab that took 2 seconds to do!!!!!!!!! Is someone ****ing picking on me there!? Are you people serious?! It can't possibly be correct to charge that ludicrous amount for a nasal swab and I bet if I call and waste my airtime again they will tell me the pathologist made the error of repeatedly submitting the claim and I must take it up with them - no Discovery I want you to do the running around and sort your **** out!!!!!!!!!! And yet again no damn communication regarding these matters. So quick to take premiums but not to resolve issues that should not have been issues to begin with! There really needs to be a worthy contender in the market so they can stop monopolizing. I'm over advising staff at work to choose Discovery as the better option. Next staff member who comes to apply for medical aid, I will gladly refer them to our other options available. This is *** man!!! Get your **** together and sort these matters out and call me once you've actually resolved it. I'm about to give birth and really can't deal with this ****, my pregnancy has been stressful enough!!!!!!!!!
