Poor and unfair service from Discovery
I was hospitalised at Waterfall City Hospital (date of service 05/01/2021) and then transferred to Sandton Mediclinic ICU (date of service 11/01/2021). Both hospitals administered a medication called Covifor as I was admitted for Covid-19, which adds up to R3000 and R6000 respectively. Discovery refuses to pay for Covifor. They required additional information which the hospital has confirmed that they have submitted. Despite numerous follow-usp since January 2021, on reference numbers *** & ***, I am always promised a follow up call after escallation of my query, but it has not as yet been resolved. I cannot understand why Discovery will not pay for a medication which I clearly needed if two seperate hospitals administered the same medication and even after relevant information was provided including the Section 21 form. I am beyond frustrated and will have to resort to the Office of the Health Ombud, as I dont have much of a choice.
