Please remind me why I'm paying you

I was in taken to hospital, as an emergency last year. To my knowledge all hospital procedures, should have been covered under my hospital plan. I am now getting a bill from one of the doctors for an unpaid claim. Soon after that I saw a specialist - after waiting two weeks for medical aid authorisation (so that the appointment would be covered). I'm due to pick up my medication this week, but the specialist won't renew my script (for seizures) beause Discovery did not pay the claim once again. Please remind me why I'm paying you and going through your ridiculous authorisation process when I have to pay the bill myself anyway ?
