Plan changes headache

Thank you Discovery for once again being an absolute failure. All I wanted was to change my plan from the Active Smart to the Essential Smart. First the website didn't want to allow me to do this. Secondly, your call centre lady gets snarky with me for this change because it is seen as an "upgrade". How is it an upgrade if majority of the cover remains EXACTLY the same. There are 3 minimal changes: 1. The hospital network changes from the Dynamic Smart network to the Smart Network. So yes we would have access to actual hospitals. 2. The maternity benefit is covered (Essential) and not covered from available day-to-day funds (Active). 3. The co-payment for planned admissions fall away (that if I change now Discovery would make that R7500 back with the increase of remaining premiums for the year).

They can literally go back on our records and see in the past 2.5 years we have not once been to hospital except for my wife who had to go for a yearly chronic approved PMB check up with her specialist.

So in no way or form will Discovery lose money on this plan change. It's actually ridiculous. I am not asking some Comprehensive or Executive upgrade. It's just 2 plans up in the same Smart group.
