Pathetic Medical Aid

If I could give them 0 I would. We are 4 on the medical scheme. We are in one of the top schemes and we pay around R10 000.00 a month for the 4 of us. My mother had to go in for an operation at Mediclinic, she had to pay in total almost R12 000.00 for her procedures and follow ups. These drs were the only drs in South Africa that could assist her with her condition. My father has to go see a heart doctor but he has to put down R7000.00 to see the dr because our 'savings' is up. So everything comes out of the savings and he is unable to go see the doctor and puts his health at risk because of this pathetic medical aid. I am on chronic medication which I have to pay out of my wallet because our savings is up. We hardly ever go see a dr but that I have to pay myself. My mother's chronic medication costs around R1000.00 a month which she has to pay herself. we took it up with them and they gave us a snotty e-mail about how we cannot receive special treatment and if we want to see the dr and our savings is up we must pay and how it's the plan we are on. It's a glorified hospital plan. Stay away from discovery as far as you can. Even if you choose one of the top plans it will still cost you out of pocket. They're pathetic!
