Pathetic Medical Aid

<p>I was admitted to Unitas Hospital on 18/02/2017. I was sick for a week, collapsed at home and I was unconscious, due to illness on 18/02/2017. My fiance and I are on different medical aids so he didn’t know that I should only go to Life Healthcare hospitals – he rushed me to closest hospital being Unitas, a Netcare Hospital. My CRP levels upon admission were 284.3 and the doctor's prognosis was right sided pyelonephritis. During my stay at hospital CRP levels went up to 312.5 - this indicates the extent of illness and that my situation was considered an emergency. Discovery has paid all expenses in full but say I’m liable for R7100 as a co-payment to Unitas as they’re under the impression that my condition was not dire enough to warrant admission to Netcare, even though I was unconscious when I got to the hospital. </p> <p> A letter of motivation from my Doctor was requested to review the deductible that has been app****. Motivation letter from my treating provider was sent through and Discovery still declines to pay deductible. </p> <p> </p>
