Paid but no cover
First of all, let me be the first to say that when Discovery works, it works. Efficient call Centre, great App and website. But boy when it goes wrong, things go South!
Two issues that to me many, many phone calls and lots of transferring from pillar to post.
Life insurance: I ended my employment and as a result only got paid in the last day of the month. Most of my debit orders go off on the 1st of each month but Discovery life slipped my mind. (Totally my fault) this resulted in being in arrears and subsequently the policy was suspended, later reinstated after making two payments @ R239.00 higher than my normal installment. Turns out Vitality was activated on this policy which I never requested as I am a loyal Vitality Health member. Again, compliments to their team, they reversed this and paid me back. But still how did this happen.
Problem two: as mentioned I terminated employment and withdraw but moved over to new employer, paid for the month of December only to find out at Clicks (South Coast mall) that my cover was suspended. I thought maybe it’s because the Clicks is in KZN, have the pharmacist a mouth full and left it. Thinking it’s a technical glitch. When I got back to Joburg however and got my script from my regular Clicks I was told the same thing and that prompted me to call Discovery. Again the poor Pharmacist got an ear full. When I called their call Centre I was told that my cover was withdrawn from my new employer... ummm, very odd! I advised the consultant that the company she says I withdrew from was and is my current employer. “Oops, sorry sir we never activated it”. So I proceed to tell the consultant that I need to speak to a manager because God forbid I got in to an accident over the festive season. What would have happened then? I’ll tell you, my family would have had to put down a hefty deposit to get me admitted to a private hospital. Discovery would not have covered it because my “ cover was withdrawn” . Now I know this is all hypothetical but a very real and plausible hypothetical scenario don’t you think? In addition my Vitality Health was also cancelled and once reinstated I was told I would have to wait 3 months to get rewards. That was lifted though so thanks for that. Now Discovery, I ask you... no cover in December, may I please have my money back or can your Manager (her name is Samantha) actually pick up the damn phone and give me feedback like she promised?!? I did updated my details 4 times might I add. So you should have all my correct personal info.
